Turin, Italy – May 28-29, 2024

GAIA, a proud partner of the “Digital Twin on Smart Manufacturing” project, attended the kick-off meeting held at the Politecnico di Torino. This pioneering initiative, funded under the ERASMUS+ program, aims to revolutionize smart manufacturing through the integration of digital twin technology. Representatives from all 11 partner organizations gathered for the two-day event, marking the official commencement of the project.

Day 1 Highlights:

The event began with introductory sessions, followed by an overview of the project presented by the project leader, APRO Formazione (Italy). This presentation outlined the project's objectives, expected outcomes, and the strategic significance of digital twin technology in contemporary manufacturing.

In the morning session, Txorierri (Spain) led an in-depth discussion on WP2: Curriculum & Methodology. This session focused on defining curriculum goals, specific learning outcomes, and developing effective teaching methods and assessment forms.

GAIA, in collaboration with APRO Formazione, played a significant role in the session on WP3: Training Course. This session covered essential aspects of setting up digital twin labs, developing comprehensive training modules and materials, and establishing the Moodle platform along with digital self-evaluation tools.

Day 2 Highlights:

The second day commenced with a focus on WP5: Dissemination, Exploitation, and Sustainability, led by the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Bulgaria). This session addressed project branding, visual identity, dissemination activities, a dissemination calendar, and the preparation of dissemination reports. A promotional video highlighting the project’s identity was also showcased.

The agenda then moved to WP1: Project Management & Quality Assurance, led by Sofia Kasola, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) consultant. She presented the management plan, quality assurance plan, formative reports, and the schedule for future meetings.

The final session of the day, focused on WP4: Pilot Testing Review and Finalization, was led by Göteborgs Tekniska College (Sweden). Partners shared their experiences from pilot tests and skill competitions, providing valuable insights for the project’s progression.

The meeting concluded with discussions on financial reports and other business matters, followed by a comprehensive meeting evaluation. This ensured that all partners were aligned on the project’s next steps and upcoming deliverables.

The kick-off meeting successfully set a strong foundation for the project, fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation among the partners. As the “Digital Twin on Smart Manufacturing” project progresses, it promises to make significant contributions to advancing digital twin technology and sustainable manufacturing practices across Europe.
